These include, firstly, introducing a management company passport; secondly, facilitating cross-border mergers of funds, in order to reduce the number of funds provided in the European Union and thus resolve the imbalance that can currently be seen between Europe and, in particular, the United States; thirdly, providing the possibility of master-feeder structures, in other words the option of investing one fund in another master fund and having that master fund manage the investments; fourthly, developing a short – only two pages long – information document, known as the key investor information, containing the most important information for small investors; fifthly, simplifying the notification procedure in order to ensure that, when a fund requests authorisation in a country where it is not yet authorised, this does not de facto result in a new re-authorisation; and, finally, strengthening supervisory cooperation.

The rules applicable in the United States are currently laid down in Sections 40102(a)(2), 41102 and 41103 of Title 49 of the United States Code (USC), which require that licences for a US ‘air carrier’ issued by the Department of Transportation, whether a certificate, an exemption, or commuter licence, to engage in ‘air transportation’ as a common carrier, be held only by citizens of the United States as defined in 49 USC §40102(a)(15).

– (IT) Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, with this vote, the European Parliament has obtained three results of a similar kind: firstly, the pursuit of the Munich Policy, whereby peace is made with dictators and war is made with our democratic countries; secondly, the attempt to divide Europe and America, the United States; thirdly, the attempt to divide Europe – they are Ollenhauer, not Adenauer Germans, they are not Schuman but Debré and anti-European Gaullist French citizens.

Permettez-moi d'en citer quatre : premièrement, un dialogue avec des associations représentant les secteurs des finances et des consommateurs ; deuxièmement, un dialogue avec les États-Unis ; troisièmement, des principes réglementaires et de surveillance solides pour les autorités pertinentes dans les pays candidats ; quatrièmement, des évaluations d'impact pour les nouvelles propositions législatives.
Let me mention four of them: firstly, a dialogue with associations representing the financial and consumer sectors; secondly, a dialogue with the United States; thirdly, sound regulatory and supervisory principles for the relevant authorities in the candidate countries; fourthly, impact assessments for new legislative proposals.
