19. réitère sa requête de faire la pleine lumière sur la collaboration d'États européens au programme des États-Unis et de la CIA sur les «restitutions extraordinaires», les vols et les prisons sécrètes sur le territoire de l’Union et insiste auprès des États membres pour que des enquêtes efficaces, impartiales, approfondies, indépendantes et transparentes soient menées à terme et pour qu’il n’y ait aucune place pour l’impunité; rappelle aux États membres que l'interdiction de la torture est absolue et que, dès lors, le secret d’État ne peut pas être invoqué pour limiter l’obligation des États d’enquêter sur des violations graves des droits de l’homme; souligne qu'en cas de non-respect des dispositions ci-dessus, ce sont la réputation des États membres et la confiance dans leur engagement en faveur de la protection des droits fondamentaux qui seraient en jeu;

Reiterates its call for a full investigation into collaboration by European states in the ‘extraordinary rendition’ programme of the United States and the CIA, flights and secret prisons within the territory of the Union, and insists that Member States must perform effective, impartial, in-depth, independent and transparent investigations and that there is no place for impunity; reminds the Member States that the ban on torture is absolute and, therefore, that state secrecy cannot be invoked to limit the obligation on states to investigate serious human rights violations; stresses that the Member States’ reputation and trust in their commitment to protect fundamental rights will be at stake should they fail to comply with the above;

With a view to the European Parliament’s 31 May debate on Elmar Brok´s report on Transatlantic relations and Erika Mann’s report on the EU-US transatlantic economic relations, and to the upcoming EU-US Summit under the Austrian Presidency, the EESC today reiterated its position on EU-US relations, as set out in the EESC’s opinion on ‘Transatlantic Dialogue: how to improve the Transatlantic Relationship’ (adopted on 3 June 2004).

Le Parlement européen réitère son exigence, rejetée par le Conseil, de voir les États membres contraindre les employeurs d’empêcher le harcèlement sexuel sur les lieux de travail.
Now the European Parliament is repeating its demand, which the Council has not approved, that the Member States should oblige employers to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace.
