I. whereas freedom of the press is still under great pressure in Egypt and journalists are still being detained on the basis of unfounded allegations; whereas a number of journalists were prosecuted in 2014 on charges related to threatening national unity and social peace, spreading false news reports and collaborating with the Muslim Brotherhood; whereas the Court of Cassation, Egypt’s highest court of law, ruled that there were procedural failings in the trial of journalists Mohammed Fahmy, Peter Greste and Baher Mohamed from Al-Jazeera; whereas, however, the three journalists are set for retrial and charges of ‘falsifying news’ and ’involvement with the Muslim Brotherhood’ against them have not been dropped; whereas three other journalists – Sue Turton, Dominic Kane and Rena Netjes – were sentenced in absentia to 10 years in prison; whereas Egyptian journalists Mahmoud Abdel Nabi, Mahmoud Abu Zeid, Samhi Mustafa, Ahmed Gamal, Ahmed Fouad and Abdel Rahman Shaheen were convicted for merely carrying out their legitimate activities; whereas there is extreme polarisation of the Egyptian media into pro- and anti-Morsi factions, which is reinforcing the polarisation of Egyptian society;

S. considérant qu'au cours des derniers mois, les arrestations d'homosexuels ont augmenté; considérant qu'il y a eu une série de descentes de police dans des lieux présumés de rencontre d'homosexuels dans toute l'Égypte; considérant que la communauté LGBT est persécutée et publiquement humiliée; que, selon l'Initiative égyptienne pour les droits personnels, au moins 150 personnes ont été arrêtées, ces dix-huit derniers mois, pour des délits de mœurs; que le 12 janvier 2015, une cour égyptienne a acquitté 26 hommes qui avaient été arrêtés un mois plus tôt dans un hammam au Caire et accusés d'«incitation à la débauche»;
S. whereas in recent months arrests of gay men have escalated; whereas there has been a series of police busts at suspected meeting places of homosexuals across Egypt; whereas the LGBT community is being persecuted and publicly shamed; whereas the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights estimates that at least 150 people have been arrested over the past 18 months on charges of debauchery; whereas on 12 January 2015 an Egyptian court acquitted 26 men who had been arrested a month earlier in a raid on a bathhouse in Cairo and charged with ‘inciting debauchery’;

5. demande aux autorités égyptiennes de libérer immédiatement et sans condition toutes les personnes détenues, accusées ou condamnées pour avoir exercé pacifiquement leurs libertés d'expression et d'association, ainsi que tous les défenseurs des droits de l'homme; demande aux autorités égyptiennes de garantir la tenue de procès libres et équitables et de veiller au respects des droits des accusés; demande aux autorités égyptiennes d'ordonner la conduite d'enquêtes indépendantes et impartiales sur tous les cas allégués de mauvais traitement et de veiller à ce que tous les détenus aient accès aux soins médicaux dont ils peuvent avoir besoin;
5. Calls on the Egyptian authorities to immediately and unconditionally release all those detained, convicted and/or sentenced for peacefully exercising their rights of freedom of expression and association, as well as all human rights defenders; calls on the Egyptian judiciary to ensure that all court proceedings in the country meet the requirements of a free and fair trial and to ensure respect for defendants’ rights; calls on the Egyptian authorities to order independent and impartial investigations into all allegations of ill-treatment and ensure that all detainees have access to any medical attention they may require;

Pour illustrer mon propos, j'évoquerai concrètement trois abus graves subis par les chrétiens égyptiens : non seulement les autorités égyptiennes bloquent-elles la construction de nouvelles églises, elles participent également aux poursuites pénales qui frappent les musulmans qui veulent se convertir au christianisme, et ce sous la prétendue accusation d'activités subversives.
