Article 3 of Regulation (EEC) No 706/73 of the Council of 12 March 1973 concerning the Community arrangements applicable to the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man for trade in agricultural products (4) provides that Union veterinary and food legislation are to apply, under the same conditions in the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man as in the United Kingdom, to the agricultural products imported into those islands or exported from them to the Union.

In order to facilitate the transport of consignments through third countries neighbouring more than one Member State, a special regime for the dispatch of consignments from the territory of one Member State to another through the territory of a third country should be introduced in order to ensure, in particular, that consignments re-entering Community territory are subject to veterinary checks in accordance with Council Directive 89/662/EEC of 11 December 1989 concerning veterinary checks in intra-Community trade with a view to the completion of the internal market

«législation vétérinaire communautaire»: les différentes réglementations énumérées à l'annexe A, chapitre 1, de la directive 90/425/CEE , ainsi que les dispositions d'application qui s'y rapportent.
‘Community veterinary legislation’ means legislation listed in Chapter I of Annex A to Directive 90/425/EEC and any subsequent implementing rules.

Le vétérinaire officiel qui, au cours d'une inspection ante mortem ou post mortem ou de toute autre activité d'inspection, soupçonne la présence d'un agent infectieux figurant sur la liste A de l'OIE ou, le cas échéant, sur la liste B de l'OIE, est tenu d'en informer immédiatement l'autorité compétente et doit prendre avec celle-ci toutes les mesures et précautions qui s'imposent pour empêcher la propagation éventuelle de l'agent infectieux, conformément à la législation communautaire applicable.
When the official veterinarian, while carrying out ante-mortem or post-mortem inspection or any other inspection activity, suspects the presence of an infectious agent mentioned on OLE List A or, where appropriate, OLE List B, the official veterinarian must immediately notify the competent authority and both must take all necessary measures and precautions to prevent the possible spread of the infectious agent in accordance with applicable Community legislation.

(7) L'article 299, paragraphe 6, point c), du traité et le règlement (CEE) n° 706/73 du Conseil du 12 mars 1973 relatif à la réglementation communautaire applicable aux îles anglo-normandes et à l'île de Man en ce qui concerne les échanges de produits agricoles(4) prévoient que la législation vétérinaire communautaire s'applique aux îles anglo-normandes et à l'île de Man, qui dès lors font partie du Royaume-Uni aux fins du présent règlement.
(7) Article 299(6)(c) of the Treaty and Council Regulation (EEC) No 706/73 of 12 March 1973 concerning the Community arrangements applicable to the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man for trade in agricultural products(4), provide that Community veterinary legislation applies to the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, which, for the purposes of this Regulation, are therefore to be considered as part of the United Kingdom.

3. The provisions of Articles 23 and 24 shall apply where the checks referred to in paragraphs 1 and 2 reveal that a serious infringement or repeated infringements of Community veterinary legislation has or have been committed.
