Monsieur le Président, je crois que l'Office national de l'énergie et les parties engagées dans ce processus feraient une grave erreur de sous-estimer la nécessité d'apporter les grandes améliorations qu'il y a lieu d'apporter au régime réglementaire si nous voulons poursuivre les activités d'exploration et d'exploitation des ressources pétrolières et gazières extracôtières. Ce serait une très grave erreur.
Mr. Speaker, I think it would be a grave mistake for the National Energy Board and the parties engaged in that process to underestimate the importance of making the vast improvements in the regulatory system and regime that have to be in place if we are going to continue to pursue exploration and exploitation of offshore oil and gas.
