Je suis d’accord avec M. von Boetticher quand il dit que la solution concernant le conseil d’administration n’est pas optimale et, en m’exprimant de la sorte, je fais preuve d’un grand sens de la diplomatie. Cependant, en toute franchise, il ne fait aucun doute que les États membres ne sont pas prêts à accepter une autre solution. La question du contrôle des frontières est très délicate pour la souveraineté nationale.
I share Mr von Boetticher's view that the solution regarding the Management Board is not the best solution, and in saying this I am being very diplomatic. However, to be frank, it is clear that the Member States are not prepared to accept any other solution. The area of border control is a very sensitive one for national sovereignty. Member States are progressively learning how to cooperate with one another, but we need to go step-by-step.
