WHEREAS by chapter seventy-four of the statutes of Canada, 1923, and by chapter three hundred and seventy-nine of the laws of the state of New York, 1922, two companies were incorporated under the name of Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Company, with authority to construct, maintain and operate a bridge across the Niagara River between the city of Buffalo, in the state of New York, and the village (now the town) of Fort Erie, in the province of Ontario, and by agreement dated thirteenth day of June, 1925, the said two companies were amalgamated and consolidated so as to form one and a new single company under the same name in accordance with, and subject to, the provisions of the said Acts of incorporation; and whereas for the purpose of the reorganization and refinancing of the said bridge undertaking upon a basis which will permit of a considerable reduction of fixed charges and consequent reduction of tolls now charged, by an Act of the Legislature of the state of New York, being chapter eight hundred and twenty-four of the laws of the said state for 1933, (hereinafter called “Act of Incorporation”, and a copy of which is, for the information only of Parliament, attached as a Schedule hereto), a Board, known as the Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority, was created a body corporate and politic, constituting a public benefit corporation, with power to acquire, hold and manage the property and assets of the Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Company; and whereas by the Act of Incorporation it is provided that the said Board shall consist of nine members, six of whom are required to be citizens of the United States and residents of the state of New York, to be appointed and removed by the Governor of the said state, and three of whom are required to be residents of the Dominion of Canada, to be appointed and removed as may be determined by the Government of the Dominion of Canada; and whereas the Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Company has by its ...

Expects the Commission to work on the quality of the national declarations (26 Member States delivered a summary of EU expenditure, as provided for by point 44 of the Interinstitutional Agreement between the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission on budgetary discipline and sound financial management and Article 53b of Council Regulation (EC, Euratom) No 1605/2002 of 25 June 2002 on the Financial Regulation applicable to the general budget of the European Communities ) in order to make them usable by the European Court of Auditors; expects a very early report on the quality of these summaries and proposals on how to improve their quality; underlines, also, the importance implementing the decisions on the 2006 discharge of the general budget, in particular the Structural Funds Action Plan and the follow-up of use of EU funds in external actions;

(19) Article 8 of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC), signed in June 2003 by all WHO members, and so far ratified by 161 Parties, including the Community and 26 of its Member States, creates a legal obligation for its Parties to adopt and implement in areas of existing national jurisdiction as determined by national law and to actively promote at other jurisdictional levels the adoption and implementation of effective measures to protect people from exposure to second-hand tobacco smoke in all indoor workplaces, public transport and indoor public places and, as appropriate, other public places.

They were particularly exasperated by the installation of a closed circuit of 26 surveillance cameras in the city for registration and recording purposes; in fact the European Council did not meet in Thessaloniki, since it was moved to Chalkidiki, far from prying eyes and troublesome protests.

Six mois à peine après l'adoption du Progamme Cadre, c'est ainsi la moitié des vingt programmes spécifiques destinés à en assurer la mise en oeuvre qui ont reçu le feu vert du Conseil, deux autres programmes ayant déjà fait l'objet d'une adoption en juin dernier (1). Se félicitant des résultats de la réunion, le Commissaire Antonio RUBERTI a en particulier tenu à souligner que la Commission mettra tout en oeuvre pour que les dix programmes restants soient adoptés avant la fin de cette année, ceci afin de permettre le lancement des appels d'offre des différents programmes le 15 décembre prochain.
