Le Conseil se rappelle-t-il la question supplémentaire du député David Martin (PSE) à la question H‑0577/04 du groupe GUE/NGL lors de la réunion du Parlement européen du 23 février 2005, dans laquelle il faisait notamment valoir que M. Vanunu avait été arrêté illégalement sur le territoire européen en 1986 et demandait d'insister auprès du gouvernement israélien pour qu'il renonce à le poursuivre, l'autorise à quitter Israël et, s'il le souhaite, à résider dans l'Union européenne, ainsi que la réponse de M. Schmit, à l'époque ministre compétent dans le cadre de la présidence luxembourgeoise: «Je le ferai»?

Does the Council recall the supplementary question asked by Mr David Martins (PSE) following Oral Question H‑0577/04 asked by the GUE/NGL Group at the European Parliament sitting of 23 February 2005, in which Mr Martins pointed out that Mr Vanunu had been taken from European soil illegally in 1986 and in which he asked if the Council would encourage the Israeli Government to stop their persecution of this individual, allow him to leave Israel and, if he so desired, to live in the European Union, to which Minister Schmit, on behalf of the Luxembourg Presidency replied, ‘yes, I will’?

Lors de l'heure des questions du 23 février 2005, l'auteur de la présente question a demandé au Conseil de bien vouloir rappeler aux Israéliens que M. Mordechai Vanunu avait été enlevé illégalement – en fait littéralement kidnappé – sur le sol européen, qu'il avait été jugé en Israël pour des faits qu'il aurait commis il y a vingt ans et qu'il serait donc fallacieux de prétendre qu'il détient encore des secrets pouvant nuire à Israël.
My question during question time of 23 February 2005 asked the Council if it would remind the Israelis that Mr Mordechai Vanunu was illegally taken from European soil, in fact effectively kidnapped to face trial in Israel for alleged offences twenty years prior to the event, working on the ludicrous notion that he still held secrets that could be harmful to Israel.
