Toute cette affaire d’infirmières et de médecin palestinien est typique d’une violation arrogante des droits de l’homme par un pays limitrophe de l’Union européenne. Nous les Italiens, nous trouvons juste en face de ce pays et nous entendons les menaces hypocrites que son petit tyran profère toujours, lorsqu’il est question de la souffrance des immigrants africains.
The whole affair of these nurses and the Palestinian doctor is typical of the arrogant violation of human rights by a country bordering the European Union: we Italians have that country right opposite us, and we can hear the hypocritical threats that its petty tyrant is always uttering about the suffering of African emigrants.

Le fait que plus de 20 000 médecins cubains et presque autant de moniteurs de sport et d’enseignants opèrent eux aussi dans le domaine de la solidarité avec le Sud illustre ce que nombre de personnes nient ou taisent. Toutefois, leur approche sectaire, qui aboutit à des résolutions telles que celle-ci, écorne l’image de l’Union européenne parmi les pays et les peuples du Sud qui éprouvent du respect et de la gratitude envers Cuba.
The fact that there are more than 20 000 Cuban doctors and almost as many sports instructors and teachers working in this same field of Southern solidarity illustrates something that many people here deny or keep quiet, but their sectarian approach, which leads to resolutions like this one, damages the European Union’s image amongst the countries and peoples of the South who feel respect and gratitude towards Cuba.

Mais pour cela, il faudrait traiter des causes et l’Union européenne est une médecine de symptôme, de soins palliatifs et d’accompagnement d’un continent du quatrième âge qu’on laisse s’enfoncer dans la lagune démographique asiato-africaine.
