21. considère que l'Union doit définir plus clairement ses ambitions concernant son rôle dans le monde; estime qu'elle ne doit pas tenter de devenir une superpuissance comparable aux États-Unis mais devrait plutôt garantir sa sécurité, œuvrer à la stabilité de son voisinage, et contribuer à l'établissement d'un système multilatéral de sécurité au niveau mondial dans le cadre des Nations unies, en veillant au respect du droit international, à la prévention efficace des crises et des conflits, de même qu'à la gestion et à la résolution des situations d'après-conflit;
21. Considers that the European Union must define more clearly its ambitions concerning its role in the world; is of the opinion that the European Union should not try to become a superpower like the United States but that it should guarantee its security, work for stability in its neighbourhood, and contribute to a multilateral global system of security within the framework of the United Nations, ensuring respect for international law and effective crisis and conflict prevention, as well as post-conflict management and resolution;
