Attendu que la Tunisie et l’Égypte ont, par écrit, déclaré au gouvernement du Canada que chacune des personnes visées par le Règlement sur le blocage des biens de dirigeants étrangers corrompus (Tunisie et Égypte), ci-après, a détourné des biens de la Tunisie ou de l’Égypte, selon le cas, ou a acquis des biens de façon inappropriée en raison de sa charge ou de liens personnels ou d’affaires et ont demandé au gouvernement du Canada de bloquer les biens de chacune de ces personnes;
Whereas Tunisia and Egypt have asserted to the Government of Canada, in writing, that each of the persons listed in the annexed Freezing Assets of Corrupt Foreign Officials (Tunisia and Egypt) Regulations have misappropriated property of Tunisia or of Egypt, as the case may be, or have acquired property inappropriately by virtue of their office or a personal or business relationship and have asked the Government of Canada to freeze the property of those persons;

Instructs its President to forward this resolution to the Council, the Commission, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy / Vice-President of the Commission, the parliaments and governments of the Member States, the parliaments and governments of Switzerland and Canada, the Congress and President of the United States, the parliaments and governments of Egypt, Libya and Tunisia, and the European Investment Bank.

The Council has adopted directives for negotiations on investment with Canada, India, Singapore, Tunisia, Morocco, Jordan and Egypt.

Raynell Andreychuk: Honourable senators, I have the honour to table, in both official languages, the report of the Canadian parliamentary delegation of the Canada-Africa Parliamentary Association on the Bilateral Visits to Algeria and Tunisia, held in Algers, Algeria and Tunis, Tunisia, from February 15 to 20, 2009.

Pourtant, eu égard au gouvernement actuel de la Tunisie, ainsi qu'à l'ensemble des Tunisiens vivant au Canada et au Québec en particulier, une demande similaire a été faite concernant le gel des avoirs et des actifs de l'ancien président de la Tunisie et de ses proches.
And yet, with regard to the current government of Tunisia, as well as all Tunisians living in Canada and especially in Quebec, there has been a similar request to freeze the assets of the former president of Tunisia and his associates.
