Depuis le départ, la situation s’est avérée très instable et, bien que nous ayons tout mis en œuvre pour éviter que les autorités birmanes ne recourent à la violence, les événements d’aujourd’hui démontrent que, très malheureusement, la junte militaire à Rangoon reste sourde aux appels de la communauté internationale, comme elle l’a été depuis des années aux appels internationaux constants et répétés.
From the start the situation has proved to be highly volatile and, although we have made every effort to prevent the Burmese authorities from resorting to violence, today’s events demonstrate that, very unfortunately, the military junta in Rangoon is still deaf to the appeals of the international community, as it has been for many years to the constant and repeated international appeals.
