[31] Regulation (EC) No 883/2004 on the coordination of social security systems, OJ L 166, p. 70, provides in its article 64, paragraph 1(c) that "entitlement to benefits shall be retained for a period of three months from the date when the unemployed person ceased to be available to the employment services of the Member State which he left, provided that the total duration for which the benefits are provided does not exceed the total duration of the period of his entitlement to benefits under the legislation of that Member State; the competent services or institutions may extend the period of three months up to a maximum of six months".
