TRADUCTIONS EN CONTEXTE

La Commission et l’EACEA devraient examiner comment encourager la réalisation d’un plus grand nombre de traductions littéraires à partir de langues sous-représentées (en particulier celles des nouveaux États membres) vers des langues plus dominantes comme l’anglais, le français, l’allemand et l’espagnol, qui servent souvent de langues pivots pour la réalisation de traductions supplémentaires, et apporter ainsi une précieuse contribution à la promotion de la diversité culturelle et linguistique.
The Commission and the EACEA should consider ways in which more literary translations can be encouraged from under-represented languages (particularly those in new Member States) into more dominant ones such as English, French, German and Spanish, which often serve as pivot languages for further translations and would therefore make a valuable contribution to promoting cultural and linguistic diversity.

Le soutien en faveur de la traduction littéraire a contribué à la traduction de plus de 1 600 livres au cours des trois ans concernés, permettant à environ 1,4 million de lecteurs d’accéder à la (nouvelle) littérature européenne.
The support for literary translation has helped the translation of over 1,600 books during the 3 year period, giving some 1.4 million readers access to (new) European literature.

Le taux d’acceptation des demandes concernant des traductions littéraires était plus élevé – environ la moitié des demandeurs ont obtenu un financement –, mais le niveau de la demande exprimée ne reflète pas le besoin constaté d’une augmentation du nombre de traductions dans certaines langues dominantes (tout particulièrement en anglais).
