Suite à une crise des textiles chinois bloqués dans les ports européens depuis le dépassement de leurs quotas d'importation, l'UE et la Chine sont parvenus à un accord le 5 septembre 2005, visant à débloquer les importations chinoises de produits textiles.
Following a crisis during which Chinese textiles were blocked in European ports after their import quotas had been exceeded, the EU and China reached an agreement on 5 September 2005 to clear blocked Chinese textile imports.

Les textiles chinois semblent être absorbés par le marché de l’UE, alors que les importations totales de textiles de tous les autres fournisseurs demeurent stables.
Chinese textiles seem to be absorbed by the EU market as total textiles imports from all suppliers remain stable.

On that occasion, the EU announced the setting up of a WTO-compatible monitoring system of Chinese textiles from 1 January 2005 to ensure a smooth transition to a quota-free trade. Today’s discussions are a concrete implementation of this decision and a continuation of talks at a technical level.
