Takes the view that, unless high-producing agricultural areas are protected from the effects of flooding, emerging economies could see an abrupt turnaround in their development and a rapidly growing food security problem; recalls that, while the melting of the glaciers in the Himalayas is expected, first of all, to increase river flows for 2-3 decades, the flows will decrease substantially in the longer term; deems therefore essential to develop mitigation and adaptation strategies to address droughts in the future;

RAPPELLE que cette communication de la Commission indique que la question des drogues de synthèse doit rester une priorité absolue pour l'Union européenne et reconnaît que de plus amples informations sont nécessaires sur les tendances émergentes en matière d'habitudes de consommation de drogues ainsi que sur les nouvelles drogues qui font leur apparition sur le marché;
RECALLS that this Commission Communication states that the issue of synthetic drugs must remain a top priority for the European Union, and recognizes an overall need for information on emerging trends in drug use patterns, as well as on new drugs coming to the drugs markets;
