Des initiatives technologiques conjointes ont été mises en place afin de poursuivre la recherche au niveau européen dans des domaines présentant un potentiel d’innovation élevé.

73. se félicite de l'avancée que constitue l'établissement des initiatives technologiques conjointes; invite la Commission à présenter de nouvelles initiatives industrielles européennes supplémentaires dans le cadre du plan SET afin d'exploiter le grand potentiel que présentent d'autres solutions technologiques renouvelables, à savoir l'énergie géothermique et solaire thermique, l'énergie hydroélectrique et l'énergie marine et à inclure le chauffage et le refroidissement à partir de sources d'énergie renouvelables; souligne la nécessité de mettre des ressources supplémentaires du budget de l'Union européenne à disposition pour financer ces initiatives;

Welcomes the progress made by establishing the Joint Technology Initiatives; calls on the Commission to come forward with new, complementary EIIs as part of the SET-Plan in order to exploit the great potential of other renewables technology avenues, namely geothermal and solar thermal, hydropower and ocean energy, and to include the existing renewables heating and cooling platform; stresses the need to make EU budget resources available in order to finance these initiatives;

Future and Emerging Technologies: to support research aiming at identifying or further exploring new scientific and technological opportunities in a given field and/or in their combination with other relevant areas and disciplines through specific support for spontaneous research proposals, including by joint calls; to nurture novel ideas and radically new uses and to explore new options in research roadmaps, in particular those with a potential for significant breakthroughs; adequate coordination with the activities carried out under the Ideas programme will be guaranteed in order to avoid overlap and ensure an optimum use of funding.
