Les députés au sein de cette Assemblée qui s’opposent à la Constitution en raison d’une prétendue militarisation ignorent, par conséquent, qu’elle incorpore la Charte des droits fondamentaux, charte qui fera dès lors partie de la politique étrangère et de sécurité commune européenne. Ils contestent également tous les progrès que nous avons accomplis et nous renvoient à Nice, à cette espèce de renationalisation que nous voyons à l’œuvre en Allemagne, pays qui croit qu’il obtiendra un siège au Conseil de sécurité des Nations unies ou qu’il sera en mesure, de lui-même, de parvenir à lever l’embargo sur la Chine.
Those in this House who oppose the Constitution on the grounds of alleged militarisation are thereby ignoring the fact that it incorporates the Charter of Fundamental Rights, which will therefore form part of Europe’s foreign and security policy; they are also negating all the progress we have made, throwing us back to Nice, throwing us back to the sort of renationalisation that we are currently seeing in Germany, which believes it will be given its own seat on the UN Security Council, or that it will, on its own, be able to get the China embargo lifted.
