J'ai dit que j'étais déchiré parce que, si je crois que les membres du comité — et moi-même, bien entendu — ne veulent pas que l'administration de la justice soit discréditée — et je crois fermement que si cette motion est acceptée et que nous suivons cette voie, c'est ce que nous allons déterminer au bout du compte — rien de fâcheux ne s'est produit qui ferait en sorte, pour reprendre les mots du préambule, que « la confiance des Canadiens moyens à l'égard de l'intégrité du système judiciaire » soit sérieusement ébranlée.
I said I'm torn because as much as I think all members of this committee, and certainly myself, want to see the administration of justice not brought into disrepute and I have every confidence that if this motion is successful and if we go down this road, at the end of the day we will come to that determination nothing untoward occurred that would bring, to use the words of the preamble, the “loss of faith in the integrity of the criminal justice system”.
