Depuis son entrée en vigueur en 2003, la directive relative à la limitation de l’utilisation de certaines substances dangereuses dans les équipements électriques et électroniques a permis d'empêcher que des milliers de tonnes de substances interdites soient mises au rebut et éventuellement répandues dans la nature.
