The project will support this by means of three separate operations: - updating the national water plan as a tool for medium- and long- term planning (i.e. spanning the periods 2000-2010/2030-2050) and for developing and using the country's water supply infrastructure; - increasing the protection of large dams in the interests of increasing their safety, by installing monitoring structures and methods compatible with the requirement that there be a rapid interpretation and diagnosis of the regular checks on the state of the structures (soundings); - the rehabilitation of sewage treatment plants by the appropriate national organizations, which will receive assistance from European specialists, thus bringing about a transfer of the necessary technology for renovating, operating and maintaining treatment works and revising the concepts of effluent treatment on the basis of efficient technology which is suited to local conditions.
