Même si elle reconnaît les désavantages structurels dont souffrent les îles, la stratégie adoptée est incohérente et c’est pourquoi nous approuvons certaines propositions soulignées dans le rapport, notamment la hausse du taux de cofinancement communautaire sur la base des critères d’admissibilité existants, ou plus de souplesse dans l’octroi d’aides d’État aux régions concernées, de sorte à compenser les coûts des carburants, des transports et de l’énergie d’une façon qui établisse une discrimination positive en faveur de ces régions.
Despite recognising the structural disadvantages from which islands suffer, the strategy adopted has been inconsistent, and that is why we approve of certain proposals emphasised in this report, such as an increase in the Community cofinancing rate on the basis of existing eligibility criteria, or flexibility in authorising State aids to the regions concerned, so as to alleviate the costs of fuel, transport and energy in a way that discriminates positively in favour of these regions.
