EMPHASISES the need for initiatives to mobilise efforts to address a wide range of strategically important issues for Europe’s future growth, competitiveness and sustainable development by bringing together key stakeholders around common strategic research agendas thus clustering RD capacity in Europe and stimulating private-public interaction; ACKNOWLEDGES that the majority of such strategic research agendas should be industry-driven and could be supported by the existing international and Community instruments, including the Framework Programme; RECOGNISES that in a limited number of cases, more substantial public-private partnerships may be required;
