Sur cette base, le Conseil européen de décembre 2012 a demandé à la Commission européenne de présenter une nouvelle stratégie macrorégionale pour la région adriatique et ionienne avant la fin de l’année 2014.
On this basis, the European Council of December 2012 requested the European Commission to present a new macro-regional strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region before the end of 2014.

Faisant suite à la décision du Conseil européen du 14 décembre 2012 (8) d'établir une nouvelle stratégie macrorégionale pour la région de l'Adriatique et de la mer Ionienne avant la fin 2014, et afin d'honorer le mandat reçu, il convient que les services de la Commission commencent à élaborer une communication et un plan d'action qui devront être approuvés avant la fin de la présidence italienne.
Following the decision of the European Council on 14 December 2012 (8) to establish a new macro-regional strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Seas before the end of 2014 and, in order to respect the mandate received, the Commission services would start drawing up a communication and an action plan, which should be approved by the end of the Italian Presidency.

Le Conseil a invité la Commission à «préciser la notion de stratégies macrorégionales, à évaluer la valeur ajoutée de ces dernières et à présenter les résultats au Conseil et au Parlement européen avant juin 2013» [3].
The Council asked the Commission to ‘clarify the concept of macro-regional strategies, to evaluate their value added and submit the outcomes to the Council and the European Parliament by June 2013’.[3]

plaide pour que la politique de cohésion après 2013 intègre, dans la mesure du possible, les stratégies macrorégionales dans le domaine de la coopération territoriale (transfrontalière, transnationale et interrégionale) et se prononce en faveur de l'adoption d'une stratégie macrorégionale avant 2013, afin que les programmes opérationnels régionaux de la prochaine période de programmation puissent contribuer dans le cadre de leurs possibilités à la mise en œuvre concrète de cette stratégie;
calls for cohesion policy after 2013 as far as possible to include macroregional strategies in its areas of territorial cooperation (in crossborder, translational and interregional cooperation) and advocates the adoption of a macroregional strategy before 2013 so that the regional operational programmes of the next programming period can, as far as they are able, contribute to the tangible implementation of this strategy;

Le CdR espère que le Conseil de juin permettra d'aller formellement de l'avant pour la poursuite des stratégies macrorégionales".
The CoR hopes that the June Council will enable formal progress in pursuing macro-regional strategies".

19. demande à la Commission européenne d'analyser les premiers constats et retours d'expérience liés à la mise en œuvre de la stratégie pour la mer Baltique, qui aideront à définir les possibles sources et méthodes de financement pour les stratégies macrorégionales, les autres stratégies macrorégionales pouvant utiliser cet exemple, en tant que projet pilote, pour faire valoir leur potentiel; souligne toutefois que la mise en place de macrorégions constitue une mesure avant tout complémentaire dont la priorité n'est pas de viser à se substituer au financement, par l'Union, des programmes individuels, locaux et régionaux;
19. Calls on the European Commission to analyse the first results and experiences in connection with the implementation of the Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region, which will help to map out possible sources and methods for financing macro-regional strategies and help in using the example of the Strategy as a pilot project for other macro-regional strategies to demonstrate their functionality; stresses however that the development of macro-regions is essentially of a complementary nature and should not aim to replace EU financing of individual local and regional programmes as a funding priority;

calls on the European Commission to make resources for the drafting of macro-regional strategies available even before 2013 and to promote the development of a macro-regional strategy for North Sea-Channel area before 2013;

invite la Commission européenne à affecter dès avant 2013 des moyens de l'assistance technique à l'élaboration de stratégies macrorégionales, afin qu'elles puissent être intégrés dans les perspectives financières de l'Union européenne;
calls on the European Commission to make the technical assistance resources for the drafting of macroregional strategies available even before 2013 so that these can be included in the European Union’s future financial perspectives;
