Calls for credible, transparent and comprehensive investigations that meet international standards – notably by the African Union commission of inquiry – in relation to all allegations of serious crimes by any party to the conflict; encourages the establishment of transitional justice mechanisms, with all the necessary international support, to promote both reconciliation and accountability; encourages the Government of South Sudan to accede to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court as soon as possible;

Deuxièmement, je souhaite également noter que nous devrions saluer le fait qu'il est actuellement permis - puisqu'il faut choisir un terme - par le gouvernement du Soudan d'accepter les troupes de la MINUAD. Secondly, I also wish to note that we should welcome the fact that there is currently permission – to give it some kind of name, from the Government of Sudan to accept UNAMID troops but at the same time we should also note that on other occasions they have broken this commitment, broken this promise and therefore we should maintain a degree of caution.

M. Louis Michel, Commissioner for Development, who visited the country in the first week of his mandate, stated “I would like to congratulate the two Parties for having achieved the Naivasha negotiations, which should pave the way for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of all parts of the Sudan, thereby tackling and alleviating the immense suffering of the Sudanese people”.

La Communauté souhaite continuer ses efforts d'aide humanitaire au Sud du Soudan. A cet effet, la Troïka communautaire se rendra prochainement au Soudan afin d'évaluer les besoins.
The Community hopes to continue its humanitarian aid efforts in the south of the country and the EC Troika will soon visit Sudan to assess needs there.
