The European Commission has cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed creation of ajoint venture between HeidelbergCement AG of Germany, acting through its Belgian subsidiary Inter-Beton NV (“Inter-Beton”), and De Hoop Terneuzen B.V. of The Netherlands, by the acquisition of joint control of the Belgian company Mermans Beton N.V. The investigation has shown that the proposed transaction will not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or any substantial part of it .
