Il n’est plus possible d’avoir un véritable débat et encore moins un référendum dans des pays qui seraient probablement critiques ou qui voteraient même non. La Constitution européenne – pardon, le traité de réforme – sera signé à Lisbonne lors d’une cérémonie en grande pompe et sera ensuite soumis rapidement aux parlements qui la soutiennent avec une hâte indécente.
There is no room for any more real debate and certainly not for a referendum in countries likely to be critical of it or to vote no. The European Constitution – sorry, the Reform Treaty – is being signed in Lisbon amid much pomp and ceremony and will then be rushed through the parliaments that support it with indecent haste.
