Hon. Charles Caccia (Davenport, Lib.): Mr. Speaker, pursuant to Standing Order 34(1), I have the honour to present to the House of Commons, in both official languages, the report of the delegation of the Canada-Europe Parliamentary Association to the April session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, held in Strasbourg from April 20 to 24, 1998, and the report of the delegation of the Canada-Europe Parliamentary Association to the meetings of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, held in Paris and Strasbourg from June 17 to 26, 1998.

L'UE suggère donc de ne pas statuer sur ces points lors de cette session de la commission de révision et de poursuivre la coopération de l'OTIF avec l'Union sur cette question, afin de disposer d'une solution bien préparée pour la prochaine révision du CIM, qu'il conviendrait idéalement de synchroniser avec le règlement (UE) no 952/2013 et ses dispositions d'application, dont l'entrée en vigueur est prévue à partir du 1er mai 2016.
Therefore, the Union suggests that no decision should be taken on these items at the present session of the RC and that OTIF continue cooperation with the Union on this issue in order to have a well-prepared solution for an upcoming revision of CIM which should ideally be synchronised with the Regulation (EU) No 952/2013 and its implementing provisions which are to be in force from 1 May 2016.
