L'Union européenne et les États-Unis ont signé un important protocole de coopération en matière de recherche et de développement dans le domaine de l'aviation civile ainsi qu'une première annexe portant sur les activités de coopération et les questions d'interopérabilité dans le cadre de leurs programmes respectifs de modernisation de la gestion du trafic aérien, SESAR et NextGen.
The European Union and the United States signed an important Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of civil aviation research and development, as well as a first annex covering cooperative activities and interoperability aspects in the framework of their respective air traffic modernisation programmes: SESAR and NextGen.

Le CESE se réjouit l'accord de coopération qui a été signé le 3 mars 2011 à Budapest entre SESAR et NextGen; il y voit un pas en avant vers une meilleure synchronisation des deux projets de développement les plus importants en matière de systèmes ATM mondiaux.
The EESC welcomes the memorandum of cooperation that was signed between SESAR and NextGen in Budapest on 3 March 2011 as a step towards a better synchronisation of the two most important development projects in global ATM systems.

Cette coopération devrait permettre l'interopérabilité entre les programmes SESAR et NextGen; elle facilitera la poursuite de la coopération entre les secteurs du transport aérien de l'Union et des États-Unis et coordonnera également les efforts techniques déployés à l'appui des activités de normalisation internationales de la gestion du trafic aérien tout en assurant un soutien conjoint de l'Union et des États-Unis à l'effort de normalisation de l'OACI.
This cooperation should achieve interoperability between the SESAR and NextGen programmes; it will facilitate further cooperation between the EU and US industry and will also coordinate technical efforts in support of global ATM standardisation activities while providing for a joint EU-US support to ICAO’s standardisation effort.

The Council authorised the conclusion of a memorandum of cooperation with the US (9390/11) aimed at promoting civil aviation research and development activities and ensuring interoperability between the future European air traffic management programme SESAR (Single European Sky ATM Research) and its American counterpart NextGen.

"L’aviation est une activité d'envergure mondiale. C’est pourquoi le développement de SESAR n’a de sens que s’il est compatible avec les systèmes de gestion du trafic aérien en dehors de l’UE, comme l’initiative NextGen des États-Unis”, a souligné M. Krawczyk.
"As the aviation business is global, the development of SESAR makes sense only if it is compatible with air traffic systems beyond the EU such as the US NextGen Initiative", underlined Mr Krawczyk.

The Council authorised the signing and provisional application of a memorandum of cooperation with the US (6458/11, 6454/11 + 6658/11 ADD 1), aimed at promoting civil aviation research and development activities and ensuring interoperability between the future European air traffic management programme SESAR (Single European Sky ATM Research) and its American counterpart NextGen.

Le premier addendum, qui fait partie du protocole qui doit être signé, porte sur la coopération entre les organismes publics et le secteur industriel concerné de l'EU et des États-Unis dans le développement du programme européen de gestion du trafic aérien SESAR et de son équivalent américain NextGen, de manière à assurer l'interopérabilité des futurs programmes.
The first addendum, which is part of the memorandum to be signed, concerns cooperation between EU and US government bodies and industry in the development of the European ATM programme SESAR and its American counterpart NextGen, so as to secure interoperability of the future programmes.

1.6 Le CESE estime que les objectifs de sécurité et de performance, ainsi que l'interopérabilité avec les systèmes ATM non européens (comme l'initiative NextGen des États-Unis) devraient demeurer le ressort principal du programme SESAR (système européen de nouvelle génération pour la gestion du trafic aérien).
1.6 The EESC believes that safety and performance objectives as well as interoperability with non-EU ATM systems (such as the US NextGen initiative) should remain the driving force for the Single European Sky ATM Research (SESAR) programme.

Les travaux sur l'interopérabilité SESAR-NextGen ont également été entrepris et seront poursuivis dans le cadre d'un accord de coopération entre l'UE et les USA.
SESAR-NextGen interoperability has also been undertaken and will be further carried out under a Memorandum of Cooperation between the EU and USA

Ce protocole contient une annexe spécifique sur les actions coopératives visant à renforcer l'interopérabilité de SESAR-NextGen[5], qui sera mise en œuvre par la SJU du côté de l'UE.
The Memorandum contains a specific Annex on cooperative actions supporting SESAR -NextGen [5] interoperability, which will be carried out for the EU side by the SJU.
