The Vienna Public Prosecutor’s Office now intends to carry out additional investigations against Mr Martin on the basis of new allegations that Mr Martin committed aggravated fraud under § 146 and § 147, paragraph 3, of the Austrian Criminal Code by declaring a third person as a parliamentary assistant although this person allegedly never actually carried out work for him in connection with his parliamentary activities, and thus deceitfully led European Parliament employees to the payment of remuneration, including social security contributions, for that person.
