Welcomes the stabilisation at a reduced level of the expenditure of staff missions between Luxembourg and Brussels due to the transfer of staff, carried out on a consensual basis and with the necessary sensitivity to social issues; notes the proposed merger of the studies/research services currently based in Luxembourg with the committee secretariats to be based in Brussels; calls on the Secretary-General to submit a note on the number of officials concerned in the present DG IV and the proposed solutions (dégagement, redeployment in other departments) for those who, for personal reasons, cannot move to Brussels; points out that transfers of this kind can be made only on a voluntary basis and also takes the view that this transfer should not take place unless all the services of DG IV and DG II can be housed in a single building in Brussels and not spread over several temporary buildings;
