After the European arrest warrant was adopted and implemented with great success, a series of measures will now have to be taken to apply the mutual recognition principle at each stage of the criminal procedure, both at the pre-trial stage (gathering evidence, alternatives to pre-trial detention) and after the trial (judicial records, execution in one Member State of a conviction handed down in another, disqualifications).
