It also acknowledges that the problem of transfers of SALW to sub-Saharan Africa cannot be isolated from that of the sources of the transfers and states that particular attention should be paid to the ways and means by which SALW are disseminated in Africa, including illegal brokering and transport.

Il est bien probable que, cette année également, beaucoup de personnes du continent africain seront tentées d'accéder à l'Union européenne par voie maritime. Les uns individuellement, les autres par petits groupes, et d'autres encore seront exploités par des organisations criminelles qui leur demandent beaucoup d'argent pour les amener en Europe.
It is very likely that this year, too, many people from the African continent will be tempted to come to the EU by sea: some will come individually, some will come in small groups and others will be exploited by criminal organisations demanding large sums of money to bring them to Europe.

La comparaison de M. Posselt avec la guerre de Trente Ans était on ne peut plus pertinente et j’espère qu’il a raison, car, dans ce cas, le conflit s’achèvera et ces régions du continent africain seront aussi prospères, stables et modernes que l’Allemagne l’est aujourd’hui.
Mr Posselt’s comparison with the Thirty Years’ War was most apt and I hope that he is right, because if so the conflict will come to an end and those regions of the African continent will be as prosperous, stable and modern as Germany is today.
