IN-CONTEXT TRANSLATIONS

Le règlement délégué (UE) 2017/86 de la Commission a établi un plan de rejets pour certaines pêcheries démersales dans la mer Méditerranée, applicable du 1er janvier 2017 au 31 décembre 2019, à la suite de trois recommandations communes présentées à la Commission en 2016 par plusieurs États membres ayant un intérêt direct dans la gestion des pêches en mer Méditerranée (respectivement Grèce, Espagne, France, Croatie, Italie, Chypre, Malte et Slovénie).
Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2017/86 has established a discard plan for certain demersal fisheries in the Mediterranean Sea applicable from 1 January 2017 until 31 December 2019, following three joint recommendations submitted to the Commission in 2016 by a number of Member States having a direct management interest in the Mediterranean Sea (Greece, Spain, France, Croatia, Italy, Cyprus, Malta and Slovenia respectively).

Agrees that the most sensible way to proceed is by choosing a number of pilot fisheries, based upon the quantity of discards produced or on the conservation status of the species involved; emphasises the importance of the pilot projects being selected in several zones to represent the geographical variety of Community fisheries; believes that each pilot project must also involve a sufficient number of vessels to cover the diversity of the fishery as well as to ensure good information exchange with others in the fishery; suggests that two possible candidates would be the various beam-trawl fisheries as well as those fisheries that catch and discard cod; recommends that while these pilot projects are proceeding, other fisheries should be evaluated for their discard rate;
