Both the Commission and the Greek Government were notified by letter some time ago that the choice of this date took place without any prior agreement and that some other date on either side of this date should have been chosen for these celebrations to enable the Opposition party to take part. In view of this, what measures has the President of the Commission, Mr Prodi, taken to avert this unfortunate scenario which would be detrimental to the unity of the European Union?
