Dans une lettre transmise au Comité, le D Philippe Duport, directeur du Centre international de recherche sur les faibles doses de radiation de l’Université d’Ottawa, a expliqué que des études sur les mammifères ont révélé à la fois une diminution et une augmentation de l’incidence du cancer à la suite d’une exposition à de faibles doses de rayonnement ionisant pendant de longues périodes de temps.
In a letter to the Committee, Dr. Philippe Duport, Director, International Centre for Low Dose Radiation Research, University of Ottawa explained that studies on mammals have shown both decreasing and increasing incidence of cancer with low-level ionizing radiation exposure over long periods of time.

Le chapitre III "Surveillance mÉdicale des travailleurs exposÉs" établit des règles détaillées de surveillance médicale. On y trouve des dispositions qui prévoient la possibilité d'une surveillance médicale prolongée après la cessation du travail, si cela est nécessaire pour sauvegarder la santé de l'intéressé (article 31, paragraphe 3) ainsi que l'obligation de conserver le dossier médical jusqu'au moment où l'intéressé a ou aurait atteint l'âge de 75 ans et, en tout cas, pendant une période d'au moins 30 ans à compter de la fin de l'activité professionnelle comportant une exposition aux rayonnements ionisants (article 34).
Chapter III "Medical surveillance of exposed workers" sets out detailed rules on medical surveillance, which include provisions foreseeing the possibility of continuing medical surveillance after cessation of work, if necessary to safeguard the health of the person concerned (Article 31(3)) and a requirement that medical records be retained until the individual has or would have attained the age of 75 years, but in any case not less than 30 years from the termination of the work involving exposure to ionizing radiation (Article 34).
