– (FR) Madam President, my first words of thanks today go, of course, to our rapporteur, Mrs Isler Béguin, and also to my fellow shadow rapporteurs, Mrs Liennemann and Mrs Gutiérrez-Cortines, for the Socialist Group in the European Parliament and the Group of the European People’s Party (Christian Democrats) and European Democrats, with whom for two years – as they have said – we have constantly tried to convince the Commission, and above all the Member States, I would say, of the relevance of this Brussels-initiated and controlled environmental policy.

Je voudrais remercier en particulier le rapporteur très compétent, Mme Fourtou, le rapporteur fictif, Mme McCarthy, ainsi que le président de la commission de l’industrie, du commerce extérieur, de la recherche et de l’énergie, M. Berenguer Fuster, pour leurs conseils très professionnels et efficaces au sein de leur institution.
In particular, I would like to thank the very competent rapporteur, Mrs Fourtou, the shadow rapporteur, Mrs McCarthy, and the chairman of the Committee on Industry, External Trade, Research and Energy, Mr Berenguer Fuster, for their very professional and efficient guidance within their institution.

- (EN) Monsieur le Président, cet après-midi je ne parle pas seulement en mon nom, en raison de ma collaboration étroite avec le rapporteur, Mme Echerer, mais je parle également plus particulièrement au nom de notre rapporteur fictif, Mme Fourtou, qui est désolée de ne pouvoir être présente pour prendre part à ces remarques.
