− (EN) Je me réjouis de ce que nous votions aujourd’hui sur ce rapport afin d’abroger une directive et onze décisions obsolètes et note que notre prochain rapport, le rapport (A6-0202/2009) rédigé par M. Morillon, abrogera quatorze autres règlements obsolètes.
− I am delighted to vote here today on this report to repeal a directive and 11 obsolete decisions and note that our next report from Mr Morillon (A6-0202/2009) will repeal a further 14 obsolete regulations.

− (EN) Au nom du Parti travailliste du Parlement européen, j’écris ces lignes pour expliquer pourquoi nous avons proposé et soutenu les amendements 20 à 23 du rapport Morillon et pourquoi, quand les amendements ont été rejetés, nous avons voté contre le rapport modifié et la résolution législative.
− On behalf of the European Parliamentary Labour Party, I am writing to explain why we tabled and supported amendments 20-23 on the Morillon report, and, when the amendments, fell, voted against the amended report and legislative resolution.

- Madame la Présidente, je voudrais d’abord remercier notre collègue André Brie pour son rapport qui nous permet d’avoir une vision juste de la situation en Afghanistan, une vision proche aussi de celle que nous avons pu avoir ensemble sur le terrain, lors de notre visite en juin dernier, sous la conduite éclairée de Philippe Morillon.
– (FR) Madam President, I would first of all like to thank Mr Brie for his report, which has given us a fair picture of the situation in Afghanistan, one also very similar to that which we saw together on the ground when we visited last June, under the clear guidance of Mr Morillon.

Pour ces raisons, nous avons déposé un amendement préalable demandant de refuser la guerre en tant qu'instrument de règlement des controverses internationales. Face à son rejet, nous avons voté contre le rapport Morillon.
For these reasons, we tabled a prior amendment calling for a rejection of war as a means of resolving international disputes. As this was rejected, we voted against the Morillon report.

Comme je l'ai déjà dit, Mesdames et Messieurs, ces points sont repris tant dans le rapport Morillon que dans les objectifs de la présidence, et c'est la raison pour laquelle nous nous efforçons de les soutenir.
As I said earlier, ladies and gentlemen, these are both points noted in the Morillon report and aims of the presidency and that is why we are making an effort to promote them.
