Le Parlement européen (), considérant que Rafiq Hariri était non seulement l'un des hommes politiques les plus influents mais surtout l'un de ceux à s'être le plus engagé en faveur du processus de réconciliation au Liban tout en soutenant avec force le retrait des troupes étrangères de son pays, a condamné vigoureusement l'attentat et a sollicité une avancée rapide de l'enquête immédiatement lancée par le Conseil de Sécurité des NNUU.
The European Parliament, expressing the view that Rafiq Hariri was not only one of the most influential politicians but also one of the most devoted to the reconciliation process in Lebanon and a strong supporter of the withdrawal of foreign troops from his country, vigorously condemned the attack and called for swift progress by the inquiry that was immediately set up by the UN Security Council.
