Les sociétés établies livrent une lutte acharnée aux nouveaux arrivants en rapport avec des questions comme l'utilisation partagée des pylônes et d'autres questions d'interconnexion, notamment en contestant devant le Conseil de la radiodiffusion et des télécommunications canadiennes, le CRTC, le caractère canadien de la propriété des entreprises nouvellement arrivées sur le marché quelques mois à peine après qu'Industrie Canada y a donné son approbation d'après les mêmes critères tout à fait.
The new entrants are being fought tooth and nail on issues such as tower sharing or other interconnection matters, and their Canadian ownership qualifications are contested by the incumbents before the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission, CRTC, scant months after being given the go-ahead on exactly the same criteria by Industry Canada.

En ce qui concerne la viabilité environnementale, les États membres ont souligné qu'il faudrait: réaffirmer le rôle prépondérant de l'UE en matière d'efficacité énergétique en présentant un plan d'action ambitieux mais réaliste, visant à exploiter pleinement les possibilités de réaliser 20% d'économies d'énergie d'ici 2020; réaffirmer le rôle moteur de l'UE dans le domaine des énergies renouvelables, par l'élaboration d'une stratégie à long terme visant une véritable promotion de ces sources d'énergie (feuille de route) et la mise en œuvre du plan d'action dans le domaine de la biomasse prévoyant aussi des objectifs à long terme; achever le réexamen du système d'échange de quotas d'émission de CO de l'UE en tant qu'instrument qui doit permettre de réaliser les objectifs en matière de changement climatique d'une manière efficace en termes de coûts; garantir un appui approprié des instruments nationaux et communautaires dans le domaine de la recherche, du développement et de la démonstration en faveur des énergies de substitution et des énergies renouvelables, afin d'accroître leur part dans la palette énergétique de l'Union européenne; évaluer les possibilités offertes par les différents secteurs en ce qui concerne l'objectif de la protection du climat mondial. Pour ce qui est de la sécurité d'approvisionnement, les États membres ont souligné qu'il faudrait: que l'Europe s'exprime d'une seule voix à l'appui des objectifs de politique énergétique dans son dialogue avec des pays tiers; intensifier les dialogues sur l'énergie entre l'UE et les pays tiers, tant à l'égard des pays producteurs que des pays consommateurs; associer les pays voisins au marché intérieur européen, par exemple en élargissant la Communauté de l'énergie; mettre en place un partenariat véritable et durable avec la Russie dans le domaine de l'énergie; renforcer la diversification des sources d'énergie, ainsi que des pays fournisseurs et des voies d'acheminement; garantir des approches opéra ...
