III. THE REFORM NOW PROPOSED The Commission is now proposing that the amendments running out at the end of this year should be changed, as from 1 January, with application of the following provisions: (a) Intervention: (i) The activation thresholds for buying-in will be changed down to 88% for the Community market price (now 91%) and 84% for the market price in the relevant Member State (now 87%), (ii) a total quantity of beef that may be bought in will be set at a maximum of 200 000 t/year.
