To conclude, I challenge the government first to demonstrate that it can legitimately represent the public when it sets its policy in the neo-liberal direction, which is what it has done in negotiating free trade deals like NAFTA, the MAI, the WTO, and the FTAA, and also with its internal policies, like slashing social programs, and even in the way it displays contempt for the public in ways I've described, which is practically a necessary characteristic of neo-liberal governments.
