The Swedish Presidency encouraged the European Commission to engage in the work on this topic to address gambling responsibility[7] and the Spanish Presidency invited the Commission to initiate consultations with the stakeholders and the Member States in view of EU actions in this field[8].

– (ES) Mr President, I would like to thank the President-in-Office of the Council, not only for the accuracy of his answer, but also for what he has been doing, both during the Belgian Presidency and during the Spanish Presidency, with a view to resolving ‘within a reasonable time period’ – to use his own words – these two problems: that of resolving the Romanian adoption system, in order to make it compatible with international agreements and, secondly, that of resolving the problems of those families who, since the procedures were begun under the former Romanian legislation, have seen no progress.

En ce qui concerne la liste d’organisations terroristes, la présidence espagnole est consciente du malaise qu’a suscité au Parlement l’adoption par le Conseil, le 27 décembre dernier, sous la présidence belge, d’une liste d’organisations terroristes, étroitement liée au règlement (CE) 2580/2001, sans que le Parlement européen, qui avait manifesté son désir de se prononcer sur cette question, ait été préalablement consulté.
With regard to the list of terrorist organisations, the Spanish Presidency is aware of the unease caused in this Parliament by the Council’s adoption, on 27 December last year, under the Belgian Presidency, of a list of terrorist organisations, closely linked to Regulation (EC) No 2580/2001, without there being any prior consultation of the European Parliament, which had made clear its desire to state its opinion on this issue.
