Ces pétitionnaires s'ajoutent à plus de 10 000 autres qui réclament des modifications à la Loi sur le système correctionnel et la mise en liberté sous condition et au Code criminel pour permettre de présenter une demande au tribunal juste avant la fin de la peine d'un délinquant dangereux, de façon que le tribunal puisse prendre un décret, s'il juge la demande justifiée, et ordonner le maintien en prison ou la surveillance du délinquant.
Ms. Val Meredith (Surrey-White Rock-South Langley, Ref.): Mr. Speaker, I would like to present two petitions to this House today, which will add to the over 10,000 names of people who are calling for changes to be made to the Corrections and Conditional Release Act and the Criminal Code to allow dangerous offender applications to be made just prior to the expiration of an offender's sentence, and then if the court accepts the application the court could issue an order for continued detention or supervision of the offender.

Mme Val Meredith (South Surrey—White Rock—Langley, Réf.): Monsieur le Président, lorsqu'un gouvernement libéral a présenté la Loi canadienne sur la santé et a mis en place le programme national d'assurance-maladie, il y a 30 ans, il était entendu que le gouvernement fédéral allait financer ce programme à 50 p. 100. Depuis l'élection du présent gouvernement libéral, cet engagement est tombé à 11,5 p. 100 et pourtant, le gouvernement soutient que les soins de santé constituent sa principale priorité.
Ms. Val Meredith (South Surrey—White Rock—Langley, Ref.): Mr. Speaker, when a Liberal government introduced the Canada Health Act and national medicare 30 years ago there was a commitment for the federal government to provide 50% of the funding. Under this Liberal government that commitment has dropped to 11.5%, yet it claims that health care is its top priority.
