En ce qui concerne les problématiques globales, une priorité est à donner aux questions concernant les nouvelles relations entre science et société, de même qu'à quelques problèmes qui requièrent une mobilisation des efforts de recherche au niveau mondial : maladies infectieuses liées à la pauvreté, biodiversité, nouvelles formes d'énergie, fracture numérique, changement climatique, sûreté alimentaire,.Pour ces sujets, les projets intégrés communautaires ou la mise en commun de programmes nationaux de recherche seront particulièrement appropriés, en y associant les chercheurs et institutions de recherche des pays tiers.
As regards world problems, priority should be given to matters of the new relationship between science and society and to specific problems which require the mobilisation of research efforts throughout the world: infectious diseases related to poverty, biodiversity, new forms of energy, the digital divide, climate change, food safety, etc. European integrated projects or the pooling of national research programmes will be particularly appropriate for these issues, with third country research staff and institutions involved as associates.

(Return tabled) Question No. 287 Ms. Manon Perreault: With regard to the Community Inclusion Initiative (CII): (a) will the program be renewed after March 2012; (b) will funding remain the same as in previous years, namely $3 million per year shared among each province and territory; (c) are any changes to the program being considered and, if so, what are they; (d) when will the agencies concerned, namely the Canadian Association for Community Living and People First of Canada, receive an answer regarding the funding available for their projects; (e) how long will the funding period be after March 2012; (f) how many projects have been funded through this program each year, since the start of the program; (g) for each CII-funded project since the start of the program, (i) how much money did it receive, (ii) how many individuals were directly affected, (iii) in which cities did it take place; and (h) what changes have been made to the program since the July 2007 formative evaluation?
