En l'an 2000, la collaboration avec la banque nordique d'investissement (BNI) et avec la « Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO)» a abouti au cofinancement de 2 projets en Lettonie, représentant pour l'ensemble des projets, un total de dépenses de 36,07 millions, la BNI contribuant à raison de 1,818 million EUR et la NEFCO à raison de 2,294 millions EUR.

The EU funded programme START (€9.9 million), implemented by IOM (International Organization for Migration), has supported the evacuation and repatriation of 1200 stranded migrants out of Libya (around 4,000 additional cases have been identified by IOM) and 417 migrants who were rescued at sea in Tunisian waters, and it has provided 7429 internally displaced families and 10,506 migrants across Libya with direct assistance (provision of non-food items, hygiene kits and health services).Most of these activities are now continued under the SaharaMed project, implemented by the Italian Ministry of Interior in collaboration with IOM (€8,3 million).

For the most part, we have supported the peace process as far as possible, deploying a number of instruments to ease the conflict and promote reconciliation, including food aid, financial contributions and the despatch of observers from the African Union. Pending the establishment of the facility to support peace, we are preparing, in collaboration with the African Union, an emergency project to maintain peace in Burundi, which totals around EUR 25 million.
