Nous restons néanmoins inquiets quant à la mise en œuvre de cette ligne budgétaire au cours des dernières années, et nous souhaitons donc appeler une nouvelle fois la Commission à présenter un rapport trimestriel à la commission compétente du Parlement sur la mise en œuvre du programme tout au long de l’année en cours et sur la planification pour l’année prochaine.
We are nonetheless still concerned about the implementation of this budget line in recent years and therefore want again to call upon the Commission to report each quarter to Parliament’s relevant committee on the implementation of the programme in the current year and on the planning for next year.

[English] When we are at the notion of initiatives that are continued, I would be remiss if I did not salute the government's decision to add a total of $3 billion over the next three years to our infrastructure programs; $2 billion to the strategic infrastructure program, which makes a total of four that will be spent starting next year and for the next 10 years, notwithstanding whatever else could be added to it in future years, as will be determined if we have surpluses in those years; and another $1 billion for municipal infrastructure, perhaps of a lesser level.

With regard to the agreement that has been reached, it is important to mention the aspects dealing with the budget and its increase by EUR 5 million to EUR 75 million for the five years of the programme, which is still insufficient, but, given the Council’s intransigence, not reaching an agreement would have meant the programme not coming into force at the beginning of next year.
