Monsieur le Président, je suis heureuse d'aborder le projet de loi C-42, qui traite de l'importante question des informations personnelles des Canadiens qui sont passagers à bord d'avions survolant les États-Unis. Certes, nous allons appuyer le projet de loi, mais je voudrais revenir sur son historique pour expliquer comment nous en sommes arrivés à ce point et pourquoi nous pouvons maintenant l'appuyer.
Mr. Speaker, I am pleased to rise to speak to the important matter of Bill C-42, concerning the personal information of Canadians on flights over the U.S. Although we will support the legislation, I will speak to the history of the bill, how we got to that point and why we can now support the bill.
