3. relève que le président Ahmadinejad a beau avoir été élu en 2005 sur un programme de justice sociale et de populisme économique, les problèmes internes de l'Iran continuent à s'aggraver malgré la hausse des prix du pétrole; déplore dès lors la stratégie choisie par le président Ahmadinejad, qui consiste à consolider sa position politique dans le pays en se montrant radical sur le plan international, dans l'espoir qu'une posture fondamentalement anti-occidentale et anti-israélienne renforce la position dominante de l'Iran dans le monde musulman;

Points out that, although President Ahmadinejad was elected in 2005 on a platform of social justice and economic populism, Iran's domestic problems have continued to worsen despite burgeoning oil prices; deplores, therefore, Mr Ahmadinejad's aim of shoring up his political position at home by embracing a radical international agenda with the expectation that a stridently anti-Western, anti-Israeli stance will enhance Iran's leadership position in the Muslim world;
