IN-CONTEXT TRANSLATIONS

It will provide: i) up-to-date information on the top 25 growth occupations in the EU, and on the top five 'in demand' occupations per Member State; ii) an analysis of skills requirements based on the European Vacancy Monitor; iii) an analysis of skills mismatches and use of skills in the workplace, through surveys of employers, learners and graduates; iv) foresight analysis at sector level, based on the work of the European Sector Councils' on Skills and Employment; and v) CEDEFOP[9] and Member States’ projections.

B. whereas gender stereotypes and the substantial gender pay gap that continues to exist might prevent or discourage women from starting or advancing their careers, leading to inequality, which has an adverse impact on the economy and significant implications for job creation; whereas access to public services, which remain an important employment sector for women, is crucial for women’s economic independence and empowerment; emphasises that the Commission must do more to promote education and training for women and girls, specifically in the fields of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) and information and communications technology (ICT) – fields in which a significant skills gap exists and which hold huge potential for future growth; whereas there will be an estimated 7.7 million STEM jobs by 2025 and an estimated 825 000 unfilled vacancies for ICT professionals by 2020;

Information will be available on the Commission's programmes that are in place to help young people, such as the EURES' 'Your first Eures job abroad' to bridge the gap between training and jobs, the European Vacancy Monitor with information on recent developments in the EU job market, and financial support under the EU Progress Microfinance Facility to help young entrepreneurs set up or develop their businesses.

In addition, 'Youth on the Move' includes a series of initiatives to promote the integration of young people into the labour market, including an invitation to the Member States to consider introducing open-ended single contracts in order to tackle labour market segmentation; the 'Your first EURES job' initiative and the new European Vacancy Monitor to promote intra-EU mobility of young people; the invitation to Member States to develop so-called 'Youth Guarantees' ensuring that young people are in a job, further education or benefit from activation measures within four months of leaving school; a new mutual learning program of the European Public Employment Services to help them reach out to young people; and making use of the recent European Progress Micro-Finance Facility to increase access to financing for new entrepreneurs, including young people.
